Skills Needed: To be considered for the Communications and Public Affairs Intern position, you must be working toward or have completed a degree in Communications (includes Mass Communications, Public Relations, Integrated Marketing Communications, Corporate Communications, Journalism) or Business (includes Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management). Students who have graduated are eligible up to one year post graduation. In addition, you must have completed (at a minimum) your sophomore year in college, have an overall GPA (grade point average) of 2.8 or above, and be a United States Citizen. Y-12 is a drug-free workplace. Candidates accepting a job offer will be required to pass a pre-placement physical, drug screening and background investigation.

The intern will be performing research and assists with the compilation of
background information on specific Public Affairs issues. Assist senior
director with organizational metrics and performance measurement. Develop
articles for internal, external, and social communications, and perform a
variety of tasks including coordinating meetings and events, writing press
releases and regional media alerts, and updating social media outlets like
Facebook and Twitter. Work with graphic designers to create communications
products for a variety of audiences. Produce communication plans for internal
and external initiatives.
